Whole foods

Before we get really involved, you have to understand one simple rule. YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT / DON’T EAT CRAP. If you want flat abs, you have to eat right. If you want more energy, you have to eat right. Supplements and fad diets are not the answer. Not only are they bad for your overall health, but they don’t work for the long-term. If something seems too good to be true, it is. There is no such thing as a “quick fix” in the health & fitness industry. You have to work hard for what you want

Don’t eat crap. Sounds pretty simple, right? I know it’s not and that’s why I’m here to help. 🙂 With what the media is constantly throwing in our faces, it’s hard to make decisions on your own. The only advice I have on that, is educate yourself. Know what foods are good for your body and what makes you feel good. I don’t mean binge on cheese fries good… more like energized and ready for the day good.

Try to maintain a whole food diet, lifestyle! Diets don’t last. Lifestyles are permanent.  It’s okay to cheat every now and then. We are human, its normal. This past weekend I had chocolate cake and ice cream. I didn’t feel bad because during the week, I try to maintain a whole foods diet. I say try, because I’m not perfect and will slip up and have a Jimmy Johns #9 (hold the mayo) if I’m in the mood for one.  I am able to release every once and awhile – but in moderation. I’m not going to eat an entire pizza and brownies just because I can. That isn’t the idea. If you eat well 80% of the time, 20% of the time you can eat all the little treats. Save the 20% for the weekends, when it’s harder to control because of parties and get-togethers.

With all the talk lately of Paleo, Gluten Free, Vegan, etc. It’s hard to decide what could be best for you. Check out this video from one of my favorite sites, Mind Body Green. I know all of this is a lot more complicated than I’m making it out to be, but it doesn’t have to be that way! Focus on eating whole foods and your diet will slowly improve. After time you will have more energy and better digestion, among other things. AFTER TIME is the key word here. Remember, there’s no such things as a quick fix. Just hard work and dedication. You can do it and I’m here to support you!
